Tonight on the Met (The CSX line from Washington DC to Brunswick MD) we have a couple of parked coal trains in Brunswick MD.

Next we have the Montgomery County trash train, which collects the trash in central Montgomery County and hauls it to the power plant at Dickerson MD-here the train approaches across the Monocacy River heading for the switch to the siding to the power plant. After grabbing these two shots, we were here by mere chance at the B&O canal National Park looking at the Monocacy Viaduct, we raced to where the access road and the siding met where at last I caught my trash train and fall colors.

Next a weekend later we were out and stopped for a few minutes at Boyds MD and caught a autorack train heading for DC.
Standing there is my driver and wife, Dawn.

Enjoy!

Looking forward to it- I'd love to get out but besides being sick I don't feel like risking the only wheels I have getting up to the good shooting points with the "winter" drivers around here.

My last trip out I caught a power move (heading with extra locomotives to the shops at Cumberland Maryland for thier annual checks and other assorted repairs) The first three and the sixth unit were online and the others were shut down. After catching this train near the Dickerson power plant we headed to Point of Rocks were we caught some luck- a rock train had a lead unit pointing the wrong way and had to use the wye to turn around- and tied up one of the main tracks- we got there in time to see a Baltimore bound coal train head by before the Cumberland bound power move came trough at track speed so fast I could hardly catch more then a couple of shots of it, and lastly the return of the Rock train locomotive returned pointing the correct direction, and coupled up, aired up and departed...
Now to enjoy the snow storm...

Thanks- yes the ground did shake. The first series of shots were taken right after a crew change at Dickerson MD so it was just crawling along powering up. I was standing on a bridge taking these shots and was surprised that vibration didn't effect the shots.
