Train Pics

Here are a few Rock Island pics I could find. The black and red scheme in pic 2 is my favorite, although the first pics is good looking too. I'm not a bog fan of the bankrupt blue scheme, so I did not look for any of those pics. Pic 4 is a HO scale engine, but it was a good pic and think it's a good looking engine. Pic 5 is of the Rock Island Aero, which was supposed to revolutionize the commuter train industry, but never caught on.

The light blue color was notorious for looking dirty. I am am sure it was a huge task trying to keep any engine clean, but the light blue and white combo was terrible for showing dirt, grime, grease, etc.

Any pics Lucky? My dad, uncle and I used to do a fair bit of model railroading. We used to hit train swap meets all the time. My favorite engine I had at the time was a DD40 that was done in I believe Milwaukee colors. If I started back in today, I would focus in on the 30-s-50's when you had a mix of steam and diesel power.

Same here....steam and 1st generation diesels! 8) Would have an occasional 2nd generation session though, got to love those SD-45's Alco C-630/636 and Fairbanks Trainmasters! The Daylight/Black Widow of the SP and the early black and yellow of Rio Grande is certainly eye candy too....

Went out today but didn't see any trains. Tried to get to the north end of the Sandy Ridge Tunnel on the old Clinchfield line but had no luck, sorry. Ended up in Trammel and got some shots of the tunnel there for what it's worth.
