I should add that the sink taps in our room were of brass and this was the not so old part.

. It is my understanding that many were for sale, so if you have a spare 300,000 euro, you may be able to purchase one, the catch however is that you would have to renovate it and that could run into millions.

Well I don't have that amount of money... But I can imagine what would happen if had that amount of money...

I would buy one, maybe two castles and turn them into art workshops / galleries. Or maybe I would turn the second one into a museum / reenactment place.
