People's situation awareness today is....
Funny to watch people on my way to work, we are doomed as a species!

There is a road sign on my way home from work. It's planted on the end of a concrete peninsula and indicates the lanes diverge at that point. My daughter and I like to play a game on our way home, speculating whether it will be up or down on any given day. If it is up, we praise its bravery and good fortune to have survived another day. If it is down, we wail in agony and grief for the death of the brave little sign.
Yesterday, the sign was gone!
Oh, the horror! Where could it have gone? Did DOT already whisk its broken body away?
We proceeded home in solomn remembrance of our friendly little sign. We crossed the river bridge, and took our usual exit, turned onto the main road home, and there, lying in the grass near a parking lot lay - THE SIGN!
Some idiot had managed to drag it from the point of impact, well over a mile on the highway, down the exit ramp and around the corner before finally stopping to pry it loose from their vehicle.
I'm impressed.

What annoyed me today? Hmmmm .... let me see....ah, yes: The lemming-like tendency of people to drag politics into the Ukraine War thread, despite approximately eight hundred and forty-five thousand, seven hundred and twelve cautions. I can only conclude that there is a strong urge to consign the thread to a Kamikaze-esque finale, And then (since you asked), I am further annoyed when people then criticize the mods for the way they are (attempting to) do their jobs. Sigh. I am annoyed now, but will be SUPER-PISSED if the thread gets locked down ... and I'm Canadian!

Here is one.

You do not have to close a thread because 1 got carry away in his comments.
The moderaters do have the option blocking one from a thread.
See the difference? This perticular thread that has gone so very far in informing when it was so dreadfull and all information with sources given is an asset. I bet a lot of people just after watching the news go here to see what we as community think about it. I do.

Now, can you see it now? Why close? Why not a cooler in the thread for somebody overheating.
It is an option. This is not kindergarten nor are most of us imbeciel.
Thats all i said. And i do think i am right in this case.

Rest assured that we have repeatedly done so in the past. We usually don't make a fuzz about it so I guess this usually goes unnoticed. You input is appreciated but realise as well that you don't hear everything.
Apart from that, while the tread has been more successful than I anticipated, it's not without its cons. We've lost some valuable members over that thread and it's a continuous worry for the forum team because of it's political nature.

Anyway, we did not close the thread, so I think we can move on.

And what do you think we are doing? We are banning the particular people from posting in the thread. I already gave out four thread bans, and people still don't get it.

Look I know you have a major problem with me. I opened my door to you, even sent you a PM to talk. You chose to ignore it. So with that said, I don't care that you have a problem with me.

The closing of a thread is always THE VERY LAST RESORT . We always do individual thread bans first, and then individual forum bans next. Then we discuss as a moderator team next before shutting a thread down. We are a team after all.

If you noticed the thread has not been closed right?

Thank you for your time, and have a good day.

!@#$%^&*(!@#$%^&*(!@#$%^&*

That was a great thread but unfortunately the American disease did kill it.

I do not know which is worse - the looney left or the rabid right but they both need a cranalrectomy.

And, even though we have had our differences Alder, please remain a moderator - the silent majority do support you.
