What Is The Last Movie/Show You Saw?

Wife is out of town visiting her kids during her spring break. I wanted to watch a movie on Prime. Watch Dauntless The Battle of Midway. It is about a crew that is shot down and was in the water for 8 days. I'm not a big fan.

I watched the new "All quiet on the western front" on Netflix. The war action is as real as can be expected and it's entertaining.
Although not a bad movie, I'm missing key parts of the book and the 1930 version. Like Paul coming home for leave, feeling very estranged from his family at home. I feel that psychological part in the the original story is very key for its anti-war message and it's unfortunate they left it out. Probably the modern audience don't have the patience for the slower narrative, so I guess it's normal that they changed it for some more fast action. As you can tell, I prefer the 1930 version but it's not a bad movie by any means and well worth watching. And after you've done that, try to get hold of a copy of the 1930 one.

Just found this comparitive of the Netflix piece, compared to the 1930 piece.

Intetesting takes. I was inclined to say that the newer movie seemed to be a bit softer, not as gritty, but after seeing the entire comparitive, it seems to me it's just another person's take on that classic tale of the rigours of war.
