At least the Star Wars franchise maintains singular releases, unlike the Star Trek franchise, which has allowed "remake", "reboot", "reimagined" and "alternate universe" releases, which to me, is not only frustrating to a person who wants to follow cannon, but is a sign that Hollywood is just lazy and wants to milk any film/series that has proven successful in the past instead of creating something original.
