CVD Vantablack - is "grown" on a surface by a chemical deposition process. Ending up as a layer of vertical carbon nanotubes. Incoming light enters the nanotubes and becomes trapped within the tubes until it is absorbed. Vantablack absorbs 99.965% of visible light. Three dimensional surfaces appear two-dimensional and totally flat.
MIT has developed an even darker black reflecting 0.1% as much light as the vantablack
