a few of those new-tool Airfix kits, but it was shelved for some reason or the other. The main reason prolly being that I often use these cheap but fun-to-build Airfix kits to practise free-hand camo airbrushing and weathering techniques and things like that

Ooooooooooooooo, swo we could use these for our new "speed build" GB???????? Yah think? yuk yuk

I'm sure that could work...if you're willing to work with 1/72 kits, which may not be evertbody's cup a tea. Slamming the basic construction together in an afternoon is easy. Maybe a day or so for cleaning up joins and maybe a bead of putty and sanding here and there....and you're good to go with the paintjob. I know I put together the (new tool) Airfix Hurricane Mk.II in about 3-4 days from start to finish.

Man, that NMF sure looks mighty shiny! What do you use to achieve that? Alclad? Wouldn't a coat of future ruin that nice finish?

what I do is I put a gloss black undercoat that makes the chrome silver stand out more. since I'll be doing a lot of chrome silver, I got the industrial size can. Rustoleum Automotive Enamel 12oz can. for the chrome silver, I use Model Master 1790. and no, the future doesn't ruin it. :)

I've applied the decals to the stratocruiser, and installed the engines. I won't post pics till I get the last coat of Future on it

unexpectedly did a lot to the Tri-motor, today. I puttied the small areas, sanded 'em down, did the grooves, and then painted the whole thing silver.

no this isn't final. lol there are some minor details to work out. I'm contemplating on whether or not to cut out the cockpit and set it aside the completed bird.

Nothing can be seen of the inside, unless the rear doors are open, and then only the end of the para seats are visible.
Just noticed the doors - no rib detail present, whereas the Italeri kit has detail on both door panels.

well, I've decided to leave the cockpit inside. I'm actually gonna mask the windows for the first time LOL. I'd need some help on the engine though. just some color references, high res pics of the P&W R-1830 if y'all can provide 'em. preesh.

here's one of the engines. I think I'm done, but I can't help thinking I'm missing something....
