Unmasking day for a Monogram SBD. I tried Javlin's tip of using aluminum foil when masking. The canopy was masked with Vallejo liquid mask, I need to clean up the canopy and touch up the ribs. The model is built out of the box, except I didnt use the bomb release level. I'm using the kit to play with new techniques. I'm going to try panel lining. The old Monogram kits are good to experiment with different skills and techniques.

Looks really nice
Well, I tried the workbench.............. the pain is just too great.
I will have to find a recliner office chair!
Dang, Bill. That sucks. I've had an office chair for years. On wheels, rotates and it reclines a bit but I put that in lock. I love the wheels as I can zip between workbench, paint rack, spray booth and photo-booth at great speed

I bought a nice high end office chair a few months ago from FB Market Place. The owner of a local engineering firm was retiring and liquidating the office furniture. I think I paid $10. Deals are out there for nice chairs.

Had one for years, replaced it with a nice comfy one lat year...............
but alas, no longer comfy! Does all you describe, but!I am fighting a losing battle!

I know how you feel Bill. I tried a bit of modelling today, first time in many months.
It worked, but it was uncomfortable, awkward and painful. Took around 3 to 4 hours of struggling to accomplish what would normally take around 45 minutes to an hour of simple work.
Been working on a 1/48th scale Takom Panther Ausf. A, adding some internal detail taken from the Bandai Pz. IV kit (that one will be modelled with hatches closed, so not wasting the detail parts).
Gun breech and recoil guard adapted and fitted to Panther gun, along with a MG34, gearbox, final drive, prop shaft and turret floor used from the Pz.IV, and engine bay blanked off.
Still to scratch-build radios and instrument panel, front seats and a couple of small details, but not going fully detailed, as it won't be seen.

Evan, I'm using a laser-etched set from Monroe Perdu Studios, in the US, which I came across when searching on-line.
It's pre-cut sections, designed for the Suyata kit (this Takom kit is the same basic kit, but without the full internal detail and Zimmerit), but should work on other kits.
The material is a thin paper card, to scale, and the same colour as "bare" Zimmerit paste, and will accept enamel and acrylic paint.
Mike at MP Studios was very helpful in answering my questions and providing advice and tips, and the Zimmerit was received just six days from ordering, including a weekend !
He does other vehicles too, and although I only looked at 1/48th scale, I think other scales are available.
For the Panther, there are a number of different styles available to represent the various production factory patterns, and mine is the classic "square tile" pattern from the MAN factory, as shown in the pic below.

My hands were too stiff and tender to do any work last night, but I'm hoping to start on the Zimmerit later today.
Mike recommended applying a primer first, as the Zimmerit sections are fixed in place with diluted PVA, which will adhere better on a painted surface. The primer has already been done, and the use of PVA will also allow easier adjustment, so I'm not expecting any major problems.
It should certainly be easier, and quicker, than using "Milliput", as I did on the old Tamiya 1/35th scale Panther about 25 years ago (pic attached).

As this will be a fairly long, ongoing build (time dependant on the condition of my knackered hands), and will be part of a diorama, I won't be doing a "Start to Finish" build thread, but I will post the odd up-date here, and post a "Finished" thread when the diorama is complete.
