This Zimmerit is excellent !
Most of the coating has been applied, and it was easy to handle and attach, using PVA brushed on to the plastic (primed) surface.
I initially used PVA slightly thinned with water, but soon found that "neat" adhesive was better, as a couple of edges lifted whilst handling.
The coating around the gun mantlet has yet to be completed, as this is in nine sections, covering compound curves, with each section requiring time to set before fitting the following parts. For this area, the PVA was reinforced with small spots of CA gel, which allowed time for final positioning.
The rear section of the hull will be covered once the top and bottom halves have been joined, as the lower, overhanging section of armour is moulded onto the bottom half of the hull, and the Zimmerit section for this area is a single piece. Shame, as I would have preferred to complete the coating before joining the hull sections, for ease of painting, but not a major problem.
The "kugelblende" hull MG fairing, driver's visor and rear stowage bins have yet to be covered, plus "filling in" a couple of small areas where the tool mounts are, using "spare" Zimmerit sections provided, and once this is done, any trimming and tidying around joints and edges will be attended to, and then the actual construction can begin.
I hope to complete this stage by tomorrow night, and just hope my hands behave enough to allow me to get the first construction stages done, as some fine-line painting will be needed around the rims of the road wheels, before fitting to the suspension arms.

Good stuff Terry and glad to see you at the bench again. I always seem to miss this thread but stumbled on your build today. That's a great looking product and makes for a convincing zimmerit finish.

Thanks Andy. It's good to be back at the bench again, but I don't know how long I can continue.
After yesterday's session, I woke up this morning with extremely stiff and painful hands and wrists, and it's only just starting to ease off a bit.
The Zimmerit certainly is good stuff, and I reckon it should look the part when painted.
A tip for anyone using this product - apply using neat PVA brushed onto the plastic, move to final position, press the part down to expel air and ensure a good bond, then seal around the edges with a thin bead of CA gel.
I accidentally caught the edge of one section earlier today, and it fell off !
Fortunately it wasn't damaged, and in fact was now a rigid piece, like a plastic part, so it went back in place easily and cleanly. The CA gel will prevent further loosening and, being gel, allows time for positioning.
During planning for the diorama, I came across this set of 1/48th scale resin figures (unpainted), by Gas-o-Line in France, so they're ordered and on the way. Once I've finalised the diorama layout, I'll post a sketch/plan and basic details. I'm trying to use dimensions that will comfortably fit into one of my smaller, single-door glass cabinets, but I may have to make it slightly larger, and change displays in the larger cabinets.
