Decals applied. No rigging. They break very easily as I have discovered when the floatplane fell on the floor and shattered. Quite irritating. The Otsu-1s are like glass. The KDA-2 parts break easily and the decals are difficult to apply. Into the box and storage closet they go.

Some on the forum know I build balsa control line models. I have since 1954, today mostly scale. Last week, I checked Ebay, looking and wishing, when I saw a listing for a stack of balsa, wheels, fuel tanks and accessories. As the R/C kit boxes displaying the items was from the 70s & 80s, I figured the balsa wood might also be old stock, rather than the current hard stuff since the Chinese took over the Ecuadorian balsa forests. The newer wood is near to thin ply in stiffness and outlandishly expensive. Most hobbyshops have drastically reduced balsa inventory, while some discontinued stocking balsa. In the Ebay pictures, I saw what could be the fuselage of a Control Line Flite Streak. Made an offer, accepted, and was surprised with a complete Flite Streak kit with completed wing. The wing inspection revealed the work of an excellent craftsman, no warps, perfect alignment and excellent adhesive penetration. The accompanying balsa stock was old stock and in excellent condition.
The pics posted here show parts I have sanded & primed prior to assembly. This is the first Flite Streak I have finished in 35 years, thanks to the start by another builder.

Like Don, I tried balsa kits at different times but never finished them. The closest (and last) was an Airsail CT-4B Airtrainer, written off in 2 house moves.

I love working with balsa wood Jesse - I find it easier (just less accurate in detail) than plastics. My main obstacle was always how to dope and cover the canvas properly.

Yes! Multiple poodles, almost as bad as Chihuahuas, ugh.
