I have a Mountain Ash tree in my yard and some people have asked if any animals eat the bright red berries, which stay on through the winter. I have only seen birds eat these when the snow covers the ground and there seems to be nothing else to eat. Today a flock of Waxwings descended on the tree and looked for some high calorie treats to get them through the -35C temperatures. Pcs taken from my bedroom window with a 300mm zoom lens.

More from Pruth Bay. These guys were working what was probably a large herring school for over an hour.
