Giant Softshell Turtle (Florida version) wandered up to our front porch (Central Florida).

Probably, a big Yellow-Bellied Slider in our yard. On alert, about to button up. All Wildlife in my photos were unharmed.

Road Runner in my daughter's yard in Albuquerque, NM

Wild Hog damage to a residential yard near us in a single overnight period. Four of the younger ones were soon captured in a county trap. Disposition unknown, probably sausage, not big enough for bacon.

Both suspected to be Rattlesnakes. I took the "leafy" woodland photo while alone far away from any help and decided not to get closer. It was moving away smartly. A neighbor took the "sandy" photo and swore it was a Rattler. Two different snakes at close-by locations in Central Florida.

Bobcat caught on my next-door neighbor's security camera in the middle of the night last month.

Brand new family of Sandhill Cranes in our front yard. According to the local ladies (expert birdwatchers) the young are called "Colts".

"Tame" Wildlife at Weeki Wachee Springs State Park.

Occasionally when I'm out doing some rock collecting I'll come across a critter. Most times by the time I get a camera and look up whatever it was is gone, like a horned owl I saw one night. I like to collect in the dark using a good headlamp that picks up on the rock crystal scintillating better than in daytime with the sun. I was happy to see a scarlet snake one night, or early morning, just a beautiful color pattern indicating it was not a scarlet kingsnake or coral snake. The alligator was a surprise during the daytime and it was kinda pissy. I am not the late great Steve Irwin so I stayed away.

Out on our death march this morning and saw this Northwestern Gartersnek, about 2ft long. I've been here over 40yrs and this is the 4th one I've seen

Looks like the Garter snakes one sees in the New York area (north east). What makes them different?

Don't know. B.C. has three species and more sub-species of garter snakes

My wife had 6 of them as a pet when we married. Had to take care of them for years.
Ours had red specks next to the spine.

Yep, Gotta love those Mermaids, my kind of Wildlife! Location - Weeki Wachee, Florida. Very affordable State Park with much more going on besides Mermaids. We take all visiting friends and family there.

Lots of critters in Central Florida. Here's a few more. Raccoons on backyard cam at night, nesting Doves in front yard, Manatees at nearby Homosassa State Park, Alligator in our neighborhood pond, and a few Tree Frogs.

Not exactly "wild" but this Pidgeon parked in our driveway and rested for a while. Very tame with multiple leg bands. I have no idea.

Here are our Florida Rabbits in our yard plus one New Mexico Jack Rabbit in my daughter's area in Albuquerque. Notice in the last photo the Rabbit watching us watching the Rabbit!
