  • Argh! Don't mention the dentist! Last week, a bottom molar fell out of my mouth! About nine hours later, I think some poison must have followed it, as i started shivering and shaking, and got a fever, and was out of the game for two days! That's when i was on the forum at odd times, mainly the middle of the night. What caused it was me accidentally punching myself in the mouth, about three or four weeks previously - I was pulling on a bag which was stuck, slipped, and whack!
i should have gone to the dentist, but i left it, as the loose tooth seemed to be healing, although it ached a bit. then, suddenly - DINK! It fell out as I was drinking a glass of water for my pain killers!!
Still, at least ther's no tooth ache nowl
That's a good one H ! the Norden, being 'Secret' during WW2, was always covered, and the aircraft put under armed guard, if the sight was left on board. However, a lot of the time (when the aircraft was not in use), the sight was removed.
It would be ok to leave it visible, but if you want to make it look like it's covered, then the easiest way is either damp tissue, painted when it's dry, or better still, a small piece of kitchen foil. Press this over the sight, froming it as if it's a canvass sheet or bag-type cover, then paint it in a light Khaki (tan) or light olive green colour. Should look good. Also, the hatch from the nose compartment to the cockpit (in the rear wall of the nose) was covered with a curtain. On my B17G, I cut this open, and rolled and folded a piece of kitchen foil, to represent a pulled-back and part folded curtain, glued it in place with Superglue, and painted it dark green. looks just like a canvass curtain folded back!
DON'T attempt to remove the needle - unless there are instructions on how to do so, and a tool, included with the brush. Even then, avoid it unless the airbrush has been glogged with dry paint for a long time!!
When the nozzle is removed, there should be a cone-shaped 'jet', with the tip of the needle protruding - this is very fine and delicate, and any slight damage, scratch etc can ruin it. That's why it's best to pull back the trigger, to ensure the needle is fully retracted, whilst removing and replacing the nozzle. Although some designs differ, this part is normally similar.Brush some thinners around the needle, gently, clean out the inside and the outer venturi of the nozzle. Hold the nozzle up to the light, to make sure you can see light through the hole where the needle fits, and no obstructions. Once re-assembled, check that all connections - air line, body, paint jar/cup, and nozzle, are tight, then spray thinners to check it's all clear.
If it's spraying freely with the Iso, continuosly, then it sounds like the acrylic paint hasn't been thinned enough. Try it at 50/50 paint/thinner first, BUT make sure you've mixed -in the tninners thoroughly. One of the reasons I shy away from acrylics, even though others swear by them, is that some brans tend to clog the jet and needle very quickly, as the dry almost as they spray. If it's not spraying paint at all, then empty it out, strip off the nozzle, making sure you pull back the trigger first, to avoid damaging the needle, and clean the whole lot. Then spray some more thinners to ensure it's spraying again - only then try the thinned paint, on a piece of paper or something first. It might be the pressure setting, but as my compressor is a fixed setting, and not that high, I doubt it, as mine sprays acrylics no problem - apart from the normal clogging.

I got the package today. Thank you. What do I owe you? I still have the 1/48 Tomcat, would you take that as compensation for the SM79?

    Regards

Hi H, Happy New Year mate!
The seat belts were a very light grey, with a hint of silver, as they were made from Rayon.
In this scale, just paint them very light grey, buckles and adjusters could be bright steel (silver) or duller, silver-grey metal.
Wow, how to answer the weathering question - almost impossible, there are so many ways of doing so many things!
It really would take a small book to cover it all, as it depends what is wanted and where. Luftwaffe aircraft had a semi-matt finish and the paint and finish quality was very good indeed. This tended to make them look a lot cleaner, in general, than some allied aircraft. I think for this one, stick to a little exhaust staining, maybe some splashes or dust around where the wheels would throw up stuff. Look at some reference pics if you can find some. For future reference , have a look at Wayne's tutorials on using pastles and so on, and look at some of the other build threads.
He He ! Just about to. I got stuck in to doing the figures for the Boston mini-diorama, an nine hours later I've just finished!
Hadn't realised I'd worked so long non stop!
No problem.. let me know what happens.

You have to remember teachers are just humans, so dont be timid to stand up for yourself. I had a few teachers over the years that got at me and I always let them have it.. no suggesting you go start a war, but if she lays something on you, take the fire and shoot it right back. Also, parents always win or they settle with the principle.
I saw your post about the book. In favor of the crowd, your teacher is a stupid Bitc*. Where does a music teacher get off thinking she has the right to tell you to leave her classroom because your book is unacceptable for school. Harrison, you have the RIGHT to read what you want, im sure you know this but ill say it anyway. You have taken the initiative to read something about history for your interest of learning. My bet would be your teacher isn't well versed in history and shes just a walking brick head that snatched a teaching degree like the rest of the idiots. Ask her some detailed history questions, bet she fails miserably and says leave my classroom because I cant handle that you wish to learn more about something most people don't know about. Where does she get off taking control of your rights and giving you punishment....
