I dunno. I'd rather deal with one short seam than 4.

Only thing I can think of, is for a possible release as a Korean war or similar version,with large antennae, but that doesn't really make sense either.

That insert falls directly on panel lines, so it's to help reduce seams. Nice work Jerry!

Yes, I had a feeling it might be on the vertical panel lines. A rather expensive way (tooling wise) of going about things, but no doubt it works well.

Yeah, it fits perfectly, and you certainly pay for that decision when you buy the kit...
