Thanks guys. Still mucking about in the wheel wells with more hydraulics. Hopefully will get something done today but have a to do list for other things.

A little more to show.

Pic 1 - added what appears in reference photos to be a telescoping guide for the gear door (no hydraulic hoses).
Pic 2 - fabricated hydraulic cylinders made of plastic rod, tape, and stretched sprue.
Pic 3 - The hydraulic cylinder, linkage, and hoses added. I scratched my head over this one for quite a while. All the reference pics that I have of this area are of the museum specimen at Hendon but my engineering sense is suggesting there's something not quite right about how all this is laid out. I can't figure out how the cylinder would work and retract the door with that sloped strut from the cylinder to the door but it is replicated exactly from pictures. If anyone can figure this out, let me know! Note that there is still a final mechanism I need to add for the door on the right. I can post a reference pic later if needed.

Thanks again for your interest and compliments.

Nice work Andy. regarding that 'strange' bit of engineering, I can only guess that it's a double strut (hydraulic or gas), with the small, angled arm attached to a 'collar' which slides/telescopes down the main strut as the doors close.

Thanks guys. Terry, I've been going through the whole thing in my head, trying to imagine the closing sequence and how that strut on the end of the cylinder would help close the door but to no avail. Below is a pic of the real thing and I'm favouring the theory that the angled strut was added by the museum and is not an original part. The other end is attached to what looks like a greased rod and it would appear that the cylinder would pull the attached linkage along the rod closing the door on the right. The left door is a mystery.

At any rate, I'm not going to get too hung up on this as it's time I wrapped this thing up and got on with something else.

Ah! I think I've got it! It's very possible that the 'extra' strut is a safety locking strut, to prevent the doors closing and the system operating should the hydraulic strut loose pressure. Similar 'locks' are often fitted to the oleos on static exhibits, to prevent the aircraft settling if the oles leak. Very often, but not always, these are painted red.
I think the opposite door is actuated by the remote strut, just visible on the right, forward of the main strut mounting location.

Thanks Chris.

Guys, I'll be leaving on a business trip to New Delhi on Friday so will be "hands off" this project for a week. Thanks for your continued interest and support. Hopefully I'll have access to the forum over this time but if not, I'll be back at this project on or about Feb 11.

Cheers

Andy
