Do you mean the GB here on the forum? If you do.. actually it is a kind of competition. But the aim isn't to gain rewards but presenting techniques used for modelling, showing worbenches , tools , etc... However the main goal is to share knowledge with other modellers and help. Please check the Group Builds section.

Wurger,

So a GB is when many modelers build the exact same model. Correct?

Sounds really interesting, when I can find the time I'll do a look see.

I would let it be as it is. Looking good. Are you going to apply another colour on it? If you are , the thin coat can make it soften up. But it is not necessary IMHO.

I cut a mask and hit it with really thinned white. Couple of coats just to soften it up a bit.

I think I have to soften the rest?

I wanted to play around with highs and lows, like the way plastic model surfaces are.

That's why I placed the rivet hole vinyl on.

"Address it" I have no idea how to get the look I'd like.

The issue is the "edge" of the vinyl. You wouldn't have that sharp edge with covering over a framework.

Thank you gentlemen, you're being very kind.

I have absolutely no problem taking criticsm, I'm here to learn remember.

Unsatisfied with that look, I took it a bit further.

I'll have photos when my camera battery charges.

Here's the thing. That area can always be scratched up, painted white for a fresh start.

If necessary.
