Thanks Erich Even walking around the exhibits
you can seen through various doors into the records areas
and it is huge to loose all of that in a fire would be an irreplacable disaster.

Next items on the vist

I'm sure someone has asked this before but can I ask what camera you use? I'm looking for a smaller digital and there is no doubt that yours takes a heck of a good picture.

I think there are better ones out there now Glider
but I use an Olympus C770 camedia I wanted a big optical zoom but
not an SLR and this is a X10 so its about the equivelent of a 250mm.
it is very good for still life objects but I have found it's auto focus is
too slow for action stuff (about 1 sec) unless you pre-focus allow
the subject to enter the field of focus. the metering is excellent all
my time exposures at night are on auto but there is loads of control latitude.
As I only paid £160 I am not too disapointed in its limitations
although it is fairly small its not a compact by any means.

This is what I believe to be one of the most Important exhibits.

A MK V tank
I read this in an artical many years ago,
Due to engine failiure the tank got stuck in no mans land,
to return to their lines, rather than risk the heavy small arms fire
the crew removed the spark plugs and hand wound it the 200yards
back to their trenches. It took four back breaking hours.

Some more under water stuff Skim.
I know there is a lot of leg pulling about the quality of the
Italian forces during WW2
But the guys who made up the Italian frogman special forces I rate as some of the wars elite
Indeed as an elite force they pre date the SBS or the SEAL's being formed in 1938.
Equipped with Flottigla Mezzi d'Assalto ( Flotilla Assault Vehicles) and using the early and dangerous re-breather equipment
they made several daring attacks against the British in the Mediterranean
