I almost had my wife talked into naming our son Ayrton, but not finding a meaning to the name, settled on Thor Axblood-Skullsplitter.

...and out of camera shot, Mark Donohue, leading by half a lap in an AMC Javelin.

....a damn good looking car, if I may say so!

Been watching for years, been to the Glen, Paul Ricard and Montreal. I'm a Haas fan but I'm into self abuse

The photo in post #17 says it all about G. Villeneuve!!!!

Hi all:

The only F1 race I've been to was the terribly hot Dallas '84 race. The last one for the DFV - the turbo cars actually jumped during gear changes on the far straight!

I was a mid-packer in the 80's in Formula Ford - before the DB-1 obsoleted everything.

My Tiga FFA-77 is vintage now & you can time me with a calendar - but it was fun!

Regards,
James

May 31, 1981: Gilles Villeneuve delivered Ferrari's first win in a turbocharged car at the Monaco Grand Prix.

There was chaos immediately before the scheduled start when a fire in a hotel storeroom above the tunnel resulted in water cascading onto the track, and for a time the whole grand prix was in doubt as fears were expressed that the tunnel's electric lighting could fail. In the event, the race started an hour late....

A lap down by L18 Gunnar Nilsson dug deep and showed the world he was indeed a 'future world champion'. Taking the lead from Lauda on L50 he cruised to his 1st and only #F1 GP victory.
Zolder #OTD 77.
