Do any of you remember the old Aoshima 1/72 scale kits. They were very crude but offerred some unique subjects. I ran across these two kits recently and decided to give them an update. This is what I really enjoy doing, taking an older kit and seeing how far i can go with it. Here are an A6M3 and a Ki-100 IIb. The Ki-100 is the only model of this aircraft that I know of in 1/72 scale.

Thanks guys. They demand a lot of work but the results are worth it.

Good work Ed.

The Ki100 is or was done by Fine Molds in Japan in both versions with the teardrop canopy and the high bach versions.....FYI your Zero is the Model 22 version of the A6M3 series, the clipped wing version is the Model 32...

Do you know if the Ki-100 by Fine Molds has the intake in the left wing root for the supercharger ? That was the feature I'm talking about.

No it doesn't, Ed.....come to think of it there isn't an intake in the wingroot of a Ki-100 that I am aware of?

According to Rene Francillon the II had a supercharger but not an intercooler. The intake was in the left wing root. The Aoshima kit has the intake. If you look at the second photo you can see the squared off area at the root.
