Cheers everyone. Below pics show the 75 splinter and mottles applied. Thanks to Wayne for his clarification on the WNF splinter scheme. Paint is Modelmaster RLM 75 enamel cut with some white to lighten.

So here's a question. I did a quick reference to Ullmann's "Luftwaffe Colours" and, according to him, based on factory drawings dated August 1941, the colour scheme was 74/75/76 (splinter scheme same as shown in Wayne's earlier top view) but with "70 and 02 blotches". I'm thinking that this may have applied to early F models but that the mottling reverted to 74/75 once the 70 batches ran out and ,as you can see, I've gone ahead based on that assumption. Would anyone have an educated opinion on the most likely mottle colours on this F-4 which was likely built in early 42? I'll gladly redo it on 70/02 if this was the most likley scheme.

Thanks gentlemen. Well, regardless of the answer to the above question, I've launched into the application of the RLM 74, doing the splinters freehand. This also was ModelMaster enamel with a dash of white. Experience with this particular bottle has been that it goes on a bit uneven but this part flat / part semi gloss finish will disappear with further clear and flat coats. Also, a little bit of careful sanding will be in order as is revealed in the close-ups, which my naked eye didn't catch. I'm also happy that the yellow bands behaved themselves when the masking tape was pulled away.

Looks like we may get some Future on and decals started soon. Thanks for your ongoing interest.

Nice work Andy, 70/02 and 02/74 and 75 were used....one G-6 camo sheet in the Merrick camo book still shows the use of 70/02 as mottle as well into 1943, so i'm sure there were various possibilities depending on manufacturer.

Very nice work Andy. I agree with Wayne re the mottle colour choices. The RLM 70 as a general camouflage colour was being replaced by 02 by mid 1940 in most cases, with mottle using the 71/02, or one of these. But, the RLM 70 could still be seen in some mottles, possibly applied at unit level from old stocks of paints.
