Thanks gents. Back to camp tomorrow so I thought I would blast on a coat of white primer, something I rarely do but seeing as this is going to be over-all orange/red I thought it would be best to brighten the colors. A few touch-up sanding bits to do on the wing seams and elevators.



And now.....I am committed....it's airbrush time. To be continued next week......

Four things I have learned:

  1. way more thought prep work to do before I start to paint.
  2. way more thought to clean up is involved.
  3. way more thought to masking.
  4. the suction cups on the feet of my compressor don't


Just as I finished the last pass, the compressor did a nose dive and landed on the hose at the fitting. It is bypassing air there. When I get back from camp I'm going to attack this in one of 2 ways, either electrical tape or super glue. I have the original Aztek hose but I can't find an adapter to hook it up to the compressor. I'm going to PG next week and hit the plumbing supply stores there. I had already purchased a set of 10 adapters and not one fit
 
I'm not sure if the way for the hose fixing is the best one. However a makeshift solution lasts the longest.

BTW.. the model looks nice.

I tried emailing Testors a while ago but in order to do that, I have to send all sorts of info; I.D., phone number, mailing address etc. The problem with the mailing address part is that there is only a drop box the contains a USA selection, no Canada or any other country. Going to try and phone them in a bit.
 
I see. Wouldn't be easier just to cut off the damaged hose ending? Then remove its remnants out of the stub pipe and pull on it the hose ending again. So you may lose 1 cm of the hose at most.
 
That's Plan D-3b. If it fails, I'm out of an airbrush period. I just tried phoning Testors about the compressor adapter part and after 20 minutes on hold I gave up. I did manage to finally find an email address without all the fuss so we'll see what happens there. When I get home next Tuesday I'm heading to hit the PG plumbing supply store with the Aztek hose and see if they can help.

EDIT: Just had a reply from Rust-Oleum Product Support???? I'm on the "Product Support Specialists" responce waiting list
 
Sounds like you are entering the catacombs of customer service hell. Let me know if you hit a dead end in PG Geo. We have a few hobby outlets here in Calgary that might stock hoses and other parts. Also a large outlet for air tools here so if you send me pictures and specs I can ask the guys here about your adaptor.
 
The paintwork looks good Geo.
I'm not that familiar with the hose and attachment sizes for the Testors/Aztec equipment, but if it's the 'standard' size of braided hose used on the majority of airbrushes and compressors, then I probably have a spare hose I can send you if you're stuck - should take about 7 to 9 days to get to you.
Once a hose has split like that, it can rarely be properly repaired, although a temporary 'jury rig' with gaffer tape might get you by for a short period.
As Wojtek suggested, it's easier, and better, to cut the hose and re-fit the union, or just get a new hose.
 
Thanks guys. I'll post up some photos of the hose and fitting against a steel ruler when I get home next week. 2½hrs until the camp bus and if the camp internet is as screwed up as it was last week this is the last post, Have a good week gentlemen
