I received the new decals in from Sprue Brothers. Man this is nice, there is a 25 page (if you count front and back 27 page) booklet that has photos of Preddy's P-51B and two D's and color setting and mixtures for the blue of the nose. Detailed 3 way drawings and a history of his operations in Europe. The set will do at least four different markings for Crips A' Mighty with three different tail numbers and two types of P-51 as well as Capt John Bennett's P-51B, the only shark mouth P-51 of the 352ed FG. Nice. I also received my copy of P-51 Mustang in Detail and Scale by Bert Kinzey (D&S Vol 51) Part 2 P-51D through H.

I must be getting used to the PE. Seems to be going easier than before. Been working on the cockpit with the Eduard upgrade set. I'm not even using the TD set. I lost one of the lap belts, could not find it anywhere. So I fashioned one with tamiya vinyl tape and other aftermarket set of buckles. No sooner did I get it attached to the seat and the lost buckle showed up pretty as you please. Then I could not find the instrument panel after several hours of searching, I pulled onther one from another kit and as soon as I sat down. I found the one I had done.

Also did some of the radiator. haven't finished the cockpit by any means but the PE seems to be getting easier to use.

Starting to look like an airplane, did some of the wheel well PE and then pu the wing together. Not attached to the kit yet but just looking. a little more PE and re adjust the gear oleo strut so it sit a bit lower. To high for a loaded Stang.

Good stuff. A few rubber bands to increase dihedral and some liquid glue should close those wing root gaps.

Wings on perm and I tried for the first time to tap out exhaust ports. Blew out a couple. Not very good but what the hay, I tried it. Looks better then no hole at all.

Big points for trying Don and not bad a bad result at that. I try to start with a centering hole using a sewing pin before drilling. You can adjust the location by jiggling the pin a bit and, once started, it keeps the drill centered.
