Thanks chaps, and Andy, as soon as I saw your new mask-making thingymajig, I thought "Ah ........" !
Not got much further yet, as I had a visitor, and all of my new (used) camera gear arrived, in three separate deliveries, all on time, so I've been playing ... er ... setting-up the cameras and lenses etc - pic in the 'Recent Purchases' thread.
Going to get back to the decals after dinner.

Decals are progressing, although some of the older Microscale items caused problems, by either folding, or breaking, but I at least managed to get them more or less sorted. The kit decals (the crosses) performed beautifully.
The swastikas, again from the Microscale Bf110 sheet, were the two-part variety, and a real pain to align - also lost a corner on one of the white swastikas.
Just a shed load of stencils to apply now, although I'll omit the tiny frame numbers down each side, as a) I'm sure to go cross-eyed trying to see the darned things, and b) I can't find any evidence of this aircraft actullay having them.
If I can get these done tonight, I might be able to get the semi-matt clear coat on some time tomorrow.

Thanks all.

Yes Andy, the stencils are there, but the small frame numbers, 1 to 18, along the lower fuselage are not present in photos of this particular aircraft, and others of the unit. I've checked close-up shots of the nose of 'standard' Bf110s in this earlier scheme, and most (but not all) don't show the numbers either, although they are clearly visible on the later, mottled scheme. The numbers along the line of the belly tank joint, if present, would be covered by the fairing anyway, so I'll definitely omit those, but I might apply those aft of the wing - if I'm able to handle and position them.
However, that's a minor point compared to the rather large spherical object I've dropped - I got the unit code letter spacing wrong (the 'M8'), and the camouflage pattern !!
I worked from profiles and other photos of this unit's aircraft, and plans of the splinter camouflage pattern, spacing the code letters accordingly, but totally forgot to check the reference pics of W.Nr.3155 !!!!
Close examination of pics of the subject show what is at least a partial 'mirror image' camouflage pattern, at least on the starboard fuselage, and the 'M8' is closer to the fuselage cross, with the characters closer together too - b*gger, too late now !

Anyway, I'm about one third of the way through applying the stencils etc, with the fuel and oil triangles in place, and some of the other stencils. I'll very likely omit some of the smaller stencils, mainly those in red, as they just disappear against the dark background of the RLM 70. Some have already been applied, but they can't be seen, even by the camera., and I don't think it's worth the effort, fiddling, and time, trying to place them all.
The pics below show some of those that can be seen, with the trim tab warning and rudder gust lock markings, some of the larger, red stencils, only just visible.
The shiny blemish at the base of the 'M' is a stencil block for the lifting hole, and the Werke nummer was made up from individual characters from a 1/72nd scale RAF letters and number sheet. The 'lumps and bumps' seen in some of the pics are dust residue from the tissue used to tamp-down the decals, most of which were still settling when photographed.
Still half a shed load of decals to go, so I doubt I'll get them all done before next year !

Terry now I believe someone sprayed the anti-invisibility fluid and she came to life.I seriously need to add a few more 110's to the collection I have one from 20+ years the same as yours from Fujumi looking Nice can't wait to see the semi on her :thumbright:

Thanks Kevin.
The old Fujimi kit is still good, even after 40 years, and can easily be 'beefed up' with extra detail if required. There are a couple of small, minor inaccuracies internally, due to simplification of manufacture, but hardly worth noting, and again, easily improved. It was way ahead of its time when first released circa 1975 and, until recent years, it was the only game in town.

Terry, just a "heads-up". Acting as a responsible model builder I have sent a copy of your post to the Model Aircraft Police.
Und du wirst bestraft werden!

Thanks Wayne.

Got all the stencil decals on, and re-touched the broken letter 'C' on the port side, the top of the 'M', where it folded over, on the starboard side, and the end of the swastika on the starboard fin. A stroke was also added to the '1' in the Werke nummer.
These areas will receive a coat of clear gloss once the paint is fully dry. Next step is to add a little light weathering and paint wear around the wing roots, fuel fillers and cowling joints, before spraying the semi-matt clear coat.
My hands and wrists are a bit too stiff to do anymore today, and I couldn't hold my DSLR properly either, so the pics were taken with the little comapct camera.

Thanks, Wojtek and Mike.
After the recent problems with matt clear coats, I'm going to try a new one to me, Vallejo matt acrylic varnish, but I'll do a test on my 'hack' model I keep for such purposes, first.
All being well, I hope to have a further up-date some time tomorrow.
