The rear end of the fuselage has been made as a separate sub assembly so different versions of the B-17 can be made from the same main kit. The parts were made of clear plastic and unfortunately a join line runs through the middle of the rear windscreen. I have the Squadron canopy set which has a vac replacement part but it was very thin on top and had been damaged (red arrow)
I decided to cut out only the windscreen portion of the kit part and replace it with the corresponding area from the vac part
Here's the finished assembly minus some buffing needed on the side windows. Kind of hard to photograph because of all the clear plastic but it does look better that before I started.
