I built that kit when it was first released. It's a great model when done. The Revell re-issue as a fire bomber was disappoiting as it only had the thearly canopy in the kit. The instructions claimed to have both styles of canopy but that was a lie.
You know that is a shame as none of the issues had anything but the early style canopy. The Pro Modeler has the option to have it opened, but it's the early style not the clam shell.

Actually, the original issue had both style of canopies. The later re-issue as a fire bomber gave only the early style even though the instructions clearly state that there are two styles in the box. I'm lucky enough to still have another promodeler kit in mt stash and will build "Stinky" just so that I can use the remaining canopy for the fire bomber.

Funny, I have two of the original issue Monogram and two original issue Pro Modeler! And I do mean original. I may have misplaced because I thought they had both as well but I can't find anything but the single. The Cwas fist and the canopy does not open and the B it does. Never had a clamshell.

Well I'm getting a bit accomplished. As much as I complain about the PE. It can really dress up the areas that can be seen. I'm getting better at it but I'm nowhere near a pro. Here's where I am.

Some test fitting and painting updates. With all the fuss I've had in the past with masking, I'm doing the bombs (100lb GB) with enamel insignia yellow and stainless steel spinners. This will mask with the Tamiya 2mm vinyl tape. Love this tape for contours and odd angles. it bends and flexes to the the curve and it secure, maybe too secure, but this should hold and I can do the rest in OD Green (US).

"I've got too much time on my hands And it's ticking away - ticking away from me Too much time on my hands!"

I hurt my left foot several weeks back and had to take three weeks off work, and only work two days this week and three next week. So, in the immortal words of Dennis DeYoung, from Styx, "I've got too much time on my hands"

Thank you all, Interior accomplished and fuselage halves together. There was a warpage fore and aft in the fuselage so I had to work sections and clamp.

Well the wings are test fit on, not glued. and then I test fit the nose with 60 gram of tungsten putty. it's enough to hold the nose down. Not sure if I need that much or not.
