The painting begins.
I used Lifecolor and it is very tempermental to airbrush and cleanup.
Each will be finished differently, weathering and degree of finish.
The real work begins.
Two tells the story.
#11, Davidson's regular mount damaged on a hard landing.
#9 as the last plane and pilot out on a mission to defend his fellow marines and the civilians on Wake Island, never to return.
Thanks guys happy you aprove of my butchery.......
Cockpit is in.
Wings and horiz stabs attached.
Belly is not nor other stuff, gear legs, engine, cowl, prop are just in place for test fit.
Now I gotta figure out how to collapse the gear on the port side.
The work goes on....
Tomorrow I attend a weathering workshop at the IPMS NSW meeting.
I have done some in the cockpit, but that is invisible.
I would say you would have to separate all these parts of the landing gear system ( oleos and struts ) and then re-attach all of them setting at the proper locations. It is possible you would have to make a couple of new set points as well. If not, you would have to make the gear from scratch.
