A bit hard on the eyes. I was wearing 2 pairs of strong reading glasses when I did the masking

I sprayed on the first shade of gray tonight

Looking good Glen, you get extra kudos for doing this kit, of all the F-16s on the market in 1/48th I hate this one the most. Academy screwed the pouch on this kit. It's almost like having to carve it from a block of plastic. The Lobos use the F-16C block 30 which makes it pretty much a basic but is a "big mouth" (GE F-110 power plant), the 32 uses the smaller intake with the PW F-100. If you loose your patience, let me know. I've got more then 10 of the Tamiya!

Great work so far, love the Falcon. If you want any of these in a scan let me know.

Thanks Don. A lot more than I knew about the 175th FS
This kit did have it's challenges but I think I'm past all that now. If I were to build another Falcon I would chose another kit for sure.

The Tamiya series in 48th is the best "C" on the market and the block 40 kit is the most diverse of all their kits. It gives you all the stuff to build a block 25, 30/32, 40/42 (the heavy F-16) or 50/52. Revell has a really nice F-16A Block 15 ADF.

Although I knew that there were structural differences in the F-16 series, i hadn't realised that such areas as the intake were different, so good info for me.
I've always wanted to do a Danish or Norwegian F-16 at some time, so I'd need to 'gen up' on what's what - after all, the F-16 is till a new, modern aircraft to me, even though they've been around for 40 years !

They only have the early A models. All As only came with th PW F-100 and so only have the "small mouth" intakes. The more powerful GE F-110 requires more air and was not optioned until the "C" block 30. If the block number ends in 0, than it's an F-110 engined bird. All others are PW F-100. The Block 40 has beefed up landing gear and a bulge on the main gear doors to handle the larger main tires. Also has a different instrument panel and enlarged HUD as it specializes in close air support. The block 50 is a weasel version and the block 30 is a jack of all trades. All can preform any function but each was designed to do a specific job. The block 25 was what was used in desert storm. With the block 30/32 also came the extra hard points on the chin for nav, targeting pods and in the case of the Block 50/52, the AGM 88 targeting pod. The Block 60 + are all foreign sales and incorporated the conformal fuel tanks over the wing.

Are these the shades of Gull grey ?
My F-5 model is to be painted in Gull Grey (Gray) and Dark Gull Grey, so just wondering, so that I can get an approximate match by mixing existing paints in my stock.

They are not shades of Gull Gray. I'm using Testors MM enamels unmixed. The first shade was FS 36375 Light Ghost Gray. The second shade was FS 36270 Neutral Gray, and the last shade will be FS36118 Gunship Gray which may be a problem as the jar I have has dried up some and is rather "goopy". I checked the website of the closest hobbyshop (an hour drive) and they don't have it in stock so I'll try to thin my bottle and see if it will spray or else there will be a delay wile I order one
