Looking good, and those joints should be easy enough to fill and blend in.

Andy, you don't really think that, surely ......................... ( awaits relevant "Airplane" movie response !!)
Geo, the good / bad news is, the original Monogram Helldiver kit, with the same mould tools as the 1997 release, but with the company registration mark changed on your example,, actually dates from the early to mid 1960's - I remember building one around 1968/69 and, like Andy's, it had wobbly wings, which I eventually cemented in the folded position.

Dont call him Shirley.

Airframes, the Monogram Pro Modeler SB2C-4 kit has nothing to do with the old 1960's issue, it was a new tool kit complete with detailed interior, recessed panel lines, complete engine and lots of other improvements. The wings were full pieces without the folding wing gimmick. They are hard to find nowadays and go for some big money if you find one. I have one in the stash, hoping to convert it to the SB2C-1.

Getting closer to the end zone, applied the first coat of gloss black to the top. Will need to wait a week or so for it to dry thoroughly probably, always have trouble with gloss no matter what color. And of course I forgot to put my screw decals on the upper engine panels which will be the most visible so as soon as it drys I will add those before the final coat.

Here's a look at the radar pod. I have the Monogram one and the Academy one also. The Academy has a separate piece that goes between the pod and the bottom of the nose which looks more like the prototype than the Monogram one that is completely covered with a pylon.

Ok will still have a week for final assembly so hope I can get it finished in time!

Will work on props clear parts and radar pod while waiting for gloss paint to dry.

While waiting for the gloss black paint to dry I am working on the remaining parts, finished decalling and painting the propellers. I used Academy decals for the Curtiss electric logos and yellow stencils as they looked more accurate than the Monogram ones.
Today will be working on the landing gear.
