**** DONE: GB-49 1/72 Gloster Meteor FIII - Favourite A/C of WWII (1 Viewer)

Finished painting and decorating. I have used Flory Grime wash to mucky up the pristine white paint which I spent hours getting just right. I smeared on gloss black to show the oil leaks the Welland engine suffered from.

Question: if there is oil above, why not at bellow ? I mean in real life. Short as it was in a Meteor but still.

Is this better. I have removed some of the oil on top and increased the oil below.

Weathering is not my thing but virtually every photo I have seen of the white Meteors shows them very stained. It's been a learning build.

A coat of Winsor Newton Galeria Matt varnish. Some brush marks visible at certain angles so I reckon another coat needed.

I want to get some A3 colored art paper to make a backdrop for the final photos but I think I am nearly done.

Finished I think. Apart from putting on coat after coat of Vallejo Insignia White 71.279 it was an enjoyable build. I think I have achieved the effect I was after of a slightly grubby aircraft that was serviced on a muddy airfield in winter.

If I was to build the kit again I would fit some sort of engine. You wouldn't see much but at least there would be something other than an empty space.
