Believing the pic caption the"White 41" was the Goodyear FG-1D Corsair of the VBF 88 on USS Yorktown (CV 10) 18th July 1945. As you may noticed in the pic below the "White 4" of the VF 5 had the same cockpit hood without the bars and with the armour plated at the back. The image is also dated 1945 on the USS Yourktown deck. Also if it would be the Korea the US markings would have the red bars additionally IIRC. The semi-bubble canopy with the two top frames was introduced with the F4U-1A and the same one got about 800 of the early 1Ds. The full bubble canopy without the bars was intruduced with the F4U-1D BuNo.57583 in 1944. The variant of the hood also was used with the F4U-1C beginning the BuNo. 57777. The top armour plate was fitted to all 1Ds in service.

To sume up .. it looks like your "White41" wasn't the F4U-1A but FG-1D ( the Goodyear F4U-1D equivalent ) and therefore the full bubble hood with the armour top protection.
