Oberst, Stab/SG 2 WIA - Ju 87 G-2 (<-+) shot down by ground fire S of Carzig, 5 km NW of Lebus,
10 km N of Frankfurt/Oder (20 km W of Kustrin), resulting in partial amputation of right leg and at
approximately same time credited with 516 tanks destroyed. 25.03.45 returned to unit. 21.04.45
Oberst, re-appt Kommodore SG 2 (to 08.05.45). 08.05.45 Oberst Kommodore /SG 2 POW - Ju 87 G-
2 (<+-) (WNr. 494110) surrendered to U.S. forces at Kitzingen airfield, unhurt - deliberately damaged
upon landing. 04.46 released. Credited with 2,530 combat missions over the course of the war and
the destruction of 519 tanks, a battleship, cruiser and destroyer, 70 landing craft, 800 vehicles, 150
artillery and AA positions, 4 armored trains, etc. Shot down 30 times, wounded 5 times. †18.12.82
in Rosenheim, Krs. Rosenheim/Bayern. Buried in Dornhausen, Krs. Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen.
