Ice Hockey: Boston Bruins
American Football: Minnesota Vikings
Baseball: Los Angeles Dodgers
Soccer: Newcastle and Sunderland
Motor Racing: classic sportscar and F-1 and motorcycle and NASCAR up to 1972, when men were MEN, cars were made of steel, bumpers had chrome...when SC in NASCAR meant Stock Car....National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing and nothing else... It has lost it's appeal since Fred Lorenzen, "Fireball" Roberts, Curtis Turner, David Pearson, "Tiny" Lund and "Junior" Johnson's days at the top....shame shame shame

You are obviously a man with great taste being a Bruins fan
:D

Dang it.

I was voting in the poll and forgot to put in fencing.

It's probably the sport I have played the most.

Yeah, it's kinda a rare sport, and I may have not gotten into it if it wasn't for my brother, who loves fencing and Martial Arts even more than I do, but it's really fun. For those wondering about it, I advise you to try it out at least once if you can, see if you like it!

And it's not as solitary as you think. You can have teamates, and win together as a team, albeit singly one at a time. It is competitive, but a lot of sports are pretty competitive.

And there is not just Sport Fencing. There is Historical Fencing or European Martial Arts Sword Fighting, which in some ways is even better than Modern Day Fencing.

If anybody is interested I could give some links to articles.

But aside from that, I do like American Football, never played it though but it's fun to watch. All the poundings and crushing, it's like a modern day tournament.

And Baseball. I was really rooting for my team this year at the World Series, the Rockies. Hoping for at least one game win. But it didn't happen. I don't expect them to get that far this year.

I clicked on a couple of my favorites.

Basketball, U.S. football, hockey, hunting and fishing..........in that order.

And I assume you like the Leafs? And did you pay attention to their stretch drive?
You assume incorrectly I'm a Bruins fan as are many people in this neck of the woods , if you know your hockey history check out the clobbering given to the Jr Oil Kings back in the late 60's > the Niagara Falls Flyers the Bruins Jr a team at the time

My favorite to participate in is now golf. I used to hunt, fish and ski. Also played handball and racquetball and played in a touch football league in Dallas. That was interesting as the league was composed mainly of ex college and NFL players. Golf is a great sport as you can do it most of your life and players at different levels can enjoy a game together. I have played numerous times with former PGA players and often with people even worse than I am, women also and it is always enjoyable. The neat thing is that no matter how bad one is, every now and then one will hit a shot, even if it just a putt or a chip that rivals what Tiger Woods does. That is what makes you come back!
I checked off football as the sport I like best, for watching or playing(if I still could.) To me, it is the ultimate team sport. Football is the only sport that I know of which is played with an object, like a ball, where many of the players seldom get to touch or do anything with the ball. Talk about laboring in obscurity. Offensive linemen, except for the center, seldom touch the ball, have some of the most grueling and difficult jobs and no one knows their name. So football is a game with a lot of self sacrifise. No matter how obscure your role is, if you don't do your job at exactly the right time, the play may break down. Many players, especially in the NFL, don't go 100% all the time, but at a lower level, if you don't hustle all the time on every play, you won't be around long. Unless you have played the game at a fairly high level, it is hard to imagine how grueling, brutal and demanding the game is. The practises even more than the actual game. In a way and I don't want to overcharacterise this, it is a little like war. All the members of the team train and work together and are miserable together and suffer together and win or lose together. You also take and hold ground together. Lining up in a goal line defense on your own two yard line with a minute to go and you opponent is going for the go ahead TD seems
a tiny bit like war. You are not fighting for your life, it just seems like it. There is a bond that is forged between guys who have played football because of experience shared. My best friends are guys who played and coached the game in the 50s. I like to think it was a better game then. Not as commercialised and more of a true sport.

I like ice hockey it is the ultimate team sport what other sport do you have minutes or more of sustained action , in a game this week there were 7 stoppages in 20 minutes where your responsibilty can change from offence to defence in a micro second . Speed, precision body contact and relexes like no other team sport . IMHO it makes north american football akin to watching grass grow or cement drying.

I can not watch golf on TV, but I really enjoy playing golf. I regularly play with PGA card holder and he has been helping me really improve my game. Still not sure what my handicap is though...

I have a really beautiful course here in my town that I play at. I get a nice discount price since I work for the US Army even though it is a German course. I just wish I could get my wife into the game as well.

Not ever having played hockey at any level,( in Texas, growing up, ice was used for ice tea and was too precious to skate on) I would not presume to comment on watching hockey. However, football is a complex game and I can undestand why it might be boring to watch for some. Actually, football is a much better game to watch in person if it is not being televised. I get a BYU channel on TV and usually on Friday nights they show a tape of old BYU games with all commercials cut out. Amazing how fast the game moves. Uh oh, Chris sounds like you are hooked. I hope you can get your wife interested. Husbands and wives playing golf together can really make for a long and happy union!
