Its been so long since I've worked on a model that my bench had become a dumping ground for non-model related junk and I've been trying to find the time to clean it up so I can get started on this group build. I'm now leaning toward doing a bf109D from 1939. I have a Hobbycraft 109C in the stash and to me it looks the same as a 109D, Does anyone know what the differences between the two models was?

Main external difference as far as I know was the braced tail wheel on the 'C' . The 'D' had the tail wheel similar to the E and F modlsl, and also introduced the REVI 12 gun sight.

Externally the difference were the exhaust pipes and the tail wheel ( two types depending on the early or late Dora .) Also the layout of the vents on the engine cowling.

I didn't have a good answer for you last night and am glad the guys cleared it up. As for your work bench problem, this should do the trick:

Hope you join us Glenn. It would be great to see an early 109, whether a C or D.

That's exatly what I need Andy, I can't even see the table top right now. I hope to be able to get some time to straigten it out today or tomorrow .
I want to do the early 109 for two reasons, first it been in the stash for almost 20 years and it's been on the short list to build many times but always gets pushed out by something else. And second, it's simple. I've left far to many kits unfinished recently and that Stuka I was planing looks to be pretty complicated. I hope that with the Hobbycreft 109 I have a much better chance of finishing it.
