Missed that post Andy. I think as long as the U.S. aircraft were stationed on the West Coast, Hawaii or the Philippines(are there other countries/areas?) during the time frame, I'm good

Good question Andy. Ruled out NZ based RNZAF aircraft in my own head, as I figured they weren't 'in the battle zone' as such...
We might need some clarification on this detail.

(And Michael - go the Boomerang! )

Works for me.

So, a question on the theme: Would we include US aircraft pre-Pearl Harbour? I know it says 1937 but there really wasn't a PTO yet as far as the US was concerned.

I would think........
If the year fits!!!!!!!!

From Wiki

However, it is more widely accepted that the Pacific War itself began on 7/8 December 1941, when Japan invaded Thailand and attacked the Britishcolonies of Malaya, Singapore, and Hong Kong as well as the United States military and naval bases in Hawaii, Wake Island, Guam and the Philippines.

So then where did 1937 enter into it?

IMHO the including of the China war 1937 was caused by the willing of making the topic more broad and covering it with a wider selection of planes for making. In the case, the pre-war US planes wouldn't fit unless these were involved in this or other military conflcts at the Pacific area at that time.

If worse comes to worse I will leave the Miss Virginia off for now but keep my eyes open. I know that will make it not quite historically right but I will also know it was not for lack of trying.
Mother Superior would have my you know whats on a platter if I spent that kind of money for something so simple, tiny and in the big picture, insignificant. (her thoughts not mine)

Cheers,

Jeff
I have sourced the Kagero decals through a fella on the Monogram Model FB page. He will be dropping them in the mail within the next couple of days. Happy day!

OK this is going to get messy. If we say the 1937 just applies to Japanese/Chinese entries and that other nations entries are valid only after they declared war and became involved in the PTO then we are going to get a lot of debates again. I suggest we open this to all Pacific based military aircraft from 1937 to 1945.

So that would open up my California based early model B-17 options then. Dont think I will get around to it as my Yamamoto/Barber Betty/38 combo will occupy my time.

Good solution to the dilemma Andy, gives a very broad scope for everyone...:thumbright:

Me.....i'm still trying to reduce my 50 plus options to a few.....however one will be a Mitsubishi A5M4 from the China period....

Nice one Wayne.

Cheers Andy, my options are sorted then:

1. Percival Vega Gull, impressed into the RNZAF as NZ571. Used by 42 Sqn in Communications role.
2. (time permitting) Brewster Buffalo Mk.I, No.488 (NZ) Sqn, Kallang, Singapore.

Would love to have done a kiwi C-60 Lodestar, but time and space wouldn't allow right now. Maybe one day I'll find a TARDIS and sort those problems :)

Can I get in on this GB build as well or do I need to be invited ? Would Burma, Malaya and Australia count, more Indian Ocean than Pacific ? I have a Brewster Buffalo and a Bristol Blenheim but I would have to find appropriate decals. Other than that I have an Enola Gay that I REALLY don't want to build ! All the rest of my kits are Luftwaffe and try as they might they never quite made it that far.
