I'm on the case Martin although my youngest daughters wedding is in 2 weeks and there's lots to do, so will post soon I hope.
 
At last here are some photos of my progress the undercarriage is complete painted, weathered, brake pipes and hoses added. Decals were added this afternoon.

Andy I use Florys water based clay washes. A coat of Klear(Future I think you call it in your neck of the woods) first, once dry apply the wash liberally allow to dry and then with a slightly damp piece of kitchen roll gently wipe over the surface. If you don't like the result. just wash off and start again. Finally seal with a flat/satin coat of varnish.
