Since no question is a stoopid question (so I have been told and now gnaw my fingernails...) what are the white lines on the upper fuselage for? I know the circle surrounds the engine oil tank, but what of the others? And another question while I am in such a vulnerable mood, what is the curved white line on the F6F fuselage sides for? Related to folding wings, I'm assuming?

i always thought the white line on the side of the F6F was between the hand/foot holes, maybe showing their position when the spring loaded flaps were closed ????

and thought the tape on the Corsair was to prevent oil leeking out of the panel joints onto the windscreen ????

You're right Karl, they had a hard time with that right from the get go. It's just to prevent oil from leaking out. If you look around at various pictures, you'll see tape on anything from -1s to -1Ds.

It's quite well done, certainly better than mine of the same scheme! Don't think the paint usually faded that much on the later war aircraft but still cool. Also I think that Vb Spitfire is from a Canadian unit, can't recall which one though.

After a short break, new category Medium Scale Jets - Modified

first Place F4E Phantom, not sure on the markings though...
