Got em Dave, dyin to get em in the game and on the runway.... Dinners almost ready tho....

I am wondering if I can get all or some of em in the same area after landing, and then get Berts crate to start up from there, similar to ur screenshots up above....

Hmmmm.....

Would sure look better than the typical start ups I do in the vids, just sittin on the runway....

Something like this?

How the hell did u do it????
It's pure freakin' magic, brother!

Actually, it helps to have a few gamin' machines handy...

There's actually three crates in there, but I had a hell of a time wrangling two of them, so the third got dropped from the playbill...lol

I really like the song, and just played it through, but I was also using this as a test for angles/effects and such, so it's all good.

There's a couple shots in there where I had to jump from the controls of one of the birds to work the controls of the other, so we have un-manned machines in there...but I won't say at which points in the vid :)

I've been wanting to try this idea out for a while, but your vid project made me try it sooner!

Fu*k em, if the insult fits, they wear it lol....

I love how u did it man, too bad I wont be able to mimick it... I'll have to mess around and try something else, but u definatly got me convinced this is the way to open up the vid....

Gotta get gon for work, Ill holler this afternoon... Thanks again for all ur devotion to this project fellas...

I can get a clean install going, all I run is the AAA thingy, mostly for the updated sound. I'll track down my '46 disk again, I think it'll put me at 4.08m or thereabouts.

Cool Binjo, it's something I really thought about...

I talked to RedBeard today about it even. So we could have Rasenpfeil, Redbeard, Binjo and myself - makes a flight. Would be nice to have 8, but we could do two different missions...a Red and a Blue if need be.

My idea was to get a copy of Dan's opening mission (at the airfield) and a schedule of departure, and assign a ship to everyone. We all load up the mission and each record a track for Dan to go over and grab scenes as needed.

The startup, roll out and takeoff would be per Dan's direction (he'd be considered BaseOps) since he's working out the movie's timeline. Then all we do is email the .TRK files to him, and he does the rest...

I think it's do-able.

As for setting up a mission where the aircraft is NOT at the end of the strip, it requires only that you place an aircaft wherever you want it in the mission (preferably at an airstrip), in the waypoint section of your aircraft, select TakeOff. Normally, when you select TakeOff or Landing in the waypoint menu, the aircraft icon heads to the nearest end of the airstrip. You can then move the icon to wherever you like...but do not add additional waypoints, and above all, do not allow an AI to fly the ship. They'll start the dang thing up and plow into stuff...it's really ugly.

One thing that bears asking is the detail level and resolution you guys are using. Not sure if it will matter if we just use the .trk, but I know from experience that it looks odd when shots are done with differing detail levels. Not to mention file sizes!

Good question, man...but I know that RedBeard and my man-beast gamer can do decent graphics, not sure about Rasenpfeil's, though I'm sure his is pretty-well set up.

If we could land a bunch of footage for Dan to go through, the detail of the frames wouldn't matter to a certain degree, if they are used as "filler", or brief, action shots that cameo the primary, or higher detail footage.

* To give you an idea of my gamer's vid...it has the ATI X1650GT (512Mb/128bit GDDR3) card, same as Redbeard's...

After about an hour of killin' in 1946, that freakin' machine would run circles around one of those dang Easy-Bake ovens...hands down...

Saves on your heating bill at least =) I'm now running a NVidia 9600GT, the only time I stutter is flying over Leningrad with some weather...at 1600x1200

Oh right, there too. On a couple of occasions I've had flak from the Big E and her escorts slow me down a bit too, but just barely. Either way I'm off to go find my '46 disk so I can try some formation flying with you fellers.

Putting an interesting twist on this fellas.... The detail on the ground and the mission is set to perfect on every level, the max detail we can get.... Ill give what u said about waypoints a try Dave, cause what I tried last night didnt work.....

When I get up into the upper alts, I drop the ground detail down some to stop some of the clipping that happens... I have to have a pretty decent cloud coverage to mimick the actual flight conditions...

I dunno, Im still messin with it....

here is a U-tube video with Ken Wells narrating about Glen Miller visiting Steeple Morden to do a show.. has a lot of good hanger/tower shots in it.

Steeple Morden Airfield

The T-2 hanger is the Service Group hanger where they 'did it all'
