From me as well.
I've gone thru the Prostate thing, no fun.
Heading toward 75 now, and get the heebeejeebees every time someone younger passes away.
When they are close, it's not easy mate. Take care of yourself and those around you.

How awful to hear, and on a holiday no less. I am truly sorry for what you and your family have to endure. Just a couple of months ago cancer took my wife Laura from me as well. I find taking life one day at a time to be very helpful during the grieving process. Please take care my friend....

Yeah, as it makes you think about when you'll die!

I've already had a few peers already die: One I didn't know about until years went by, but I was searching for people I went to school with (the ones that were decent) and found a memorial for one of them -- you don't get a memorial unless you're dead! We had a few classes together and we were both class-clowns -- turned out he had a real skill as a musician (I never knew that), but had issues with depression and substance abuse (he died from a heroin overdose) and was only 23 or 24 when he died (2007); another was a guy I knew from 1991-1992 (2nd grade), and then again in 7th grade. Turned out he was indicted for dealing drugs (I should have known -- he had this crazy boom-box set-up in his car -- and all *BASS* -- it wasn't music so much as vibrations that vibrated the car, the streets for a few blocks, and any car within a 50-foot radius!) and died of a drug overdose (uncertain if it was a suicide or not).

My wife had a good friend die from the same form of cancer. Very aggressive and rapid.
Yeah, he died roughly 7-1/2 months after his diagnosis.

By the way, was your wife's friend by any chance, a Vietnam War veteran? There's a type of liver fluke parasite that infected a number of soldiers serving in Vietnam (they had to wade through water and were exposed via that route), as well as Agent Orange. My uncle never served in the armed forces, and frankly I'm baffled as to what caused it.
