Ah, now I understand ! No, Operation Overlord (D-Day), the Allied invasion of Europe on the Normandy beaches, was June 6th 1944. The stripes were applied as of the evening of June 5th.
 
Sorry H, I didn't get time to look properly. I've got some profiles and pics of Bs and Cs though, so I'll post them in your thread soon, along with their P47s, used before they re-equipped with Mustangs.

Captain William T "Bill" Whisner from the 487th FG Coded HO-W and the planes name was "Princess Elizabeth" 42-106449
The plane was lost June 6th, 1944

Sorry old boy, they're the only ones I managed to get of the '109s. I got talking to one of the guys there, and had to move on to get the Viggen pics, on the other side of the hangar.
