Thanks Hugh, greatly appreciated.

Took this shot this afternoon, the sunset had such great color, I had to try and capture it. I think I have to many trees

Merv, your photography is has gotten better since you started and the gorilla burn is STUPENDOUS sir! The aircraft shots are excellent to. If you have a photo program you can run the photos through it and light the dark areas up to show more detail. Other than some under exposure due to the lighting I see nothing wrong with them. Your hand has gotten steadier and the shots look great.:thumbright:

Thanks all for your comments and thank you Aaron for the advice on the photo program, I'll have to play with the shots and see what I can do.

Here are some pictures I took of a Dove in my Honey Locust tree, and some shots of the Helicopters from different news agencies that were covering the funeral for Riverside Police Officer Michael Crain, who wacowardlyly gunned down by Christopher Dorner. This day was very sad and soul wrenching for me, I served the Riverside Police Department for two years then went to the Riverside Sheriff's Department for 25 years, law enforcement is a very tight and caring family. My prayers and thoughts go out to the families who lost loved ones during this ordeal.

Excellent shots from the Chino visit and those are nice shots of the helicopters!

The sunset shot was cool with the trees in it and for my shots where I have trees in the foreground, I'll go F/8 or higher and focus on the trees, the sunset will show nice and clear in the background. Depending on the light, a higher f-stop might produce slower shutter speeds, so be sure to have a tripod or sturdy surface handy to rest the camera on :)

Excellent shot of the Mourning Dove, appropiate for the circumstances. The law enforcement community up here was shocked and deeply saddend at the sensless loss of the officers in Southern California. It's a real tragedy :(

Some really nice shots Merv.

I have been told that the Ryan Fireball at Planes of Fame is the last one in existence VB. Hopefully it will be one the museum decides to finish restoring to flight status when some of the current restoration projects get finished.

Thanks for the encouraging comments, Wheels, I'll see you next Saturday. Dave, thanks for the information, the next Sunset I will try the f/8 or higher and see what happens, cheers.

Made this for my Dental Hygienes, her husbands Great Grandfather was the Light House Keeper at Ballast Point, San Diego, Ca. She asked if I could do a burn of it, so I thought I would give it a try. The work was done on a Basswood Plate, the plate side was not what I wanted to use, it didn't have the effect or look I wanted, so I turned it over and used the back side. Also attached is the photograph she gave me which wasn't the best but it is pretty old.
