There has been much hullabaloo about the new(ish) Kotare 1/32 scale Spitfires, so I thought I'd build one.

It's a very nice kit, well engineered and with a superb fit. It also comes with a very complete and well researched instruction booklet. For my money it's better than the Tamiya uber-kits and at about half the price.

Anyway, here's a couple of pictures:

This is built out of the box, including kit decals. MRP paints.

1/48 Academy P-36C
This is the Academy kit with many aftermarket parts added. It is painted in markings for the 27th Pursuit Squadron at the 1939 Cleveland Air Race. Needed lots of filler and plastic shims to get the wing roots smooth. Aftermarket parts include Legends cockpit, Eduard photoetch for landing gear bay and struts, Ultracast seat with lap belt, Falcon vac canopy, Master gun barrels and pitot, Barracuda wheels and Vector prop. The scheme was cut from vinyl on my Silhouette cutter based on an article by Dana Bell. Antenna is from EZ line. Came out nice.

Very nice, indeed! Camo colors kind of remind me of a feral cat I used to have wondering around
Very cool! The colors involved quite a bit of mixing, other than using Tamiya flat white lacquer for the base color. The Bottle green is a mixture of Model Master Medium green 34102 and Dark Sea blue. The orangey sand is Model Master ANA616 Sand mixed with a small Testors bottle of a rust brown. And the cockpit and wheelwells were mixed from Testors Zinc chromate yellow with 10% flat black added to get the strange looking Curtiss green.
