Interestingly enough, you know those molded paper filter masks that fit over your mouth and nose?

Well, 3M originally designed them to be bras. However, it was obvious that while it was a very low cost way to manufacture a bra, they were so ugly that no woman would ever deign to wear one.

Then some guy stuck one over his face and said, "Hey! You can breath through this thing!" So they became filter masks.
