Yeah, I had to snag that one one-handed while driving down the freeway. I thought the irony was too great to resist! It never really got too far below freezing today, hovered around 32-34 (depending on which source you got your temps from), just enough to keep everything from going solid. It was either snow or slush. Tonight, its supposed to hit mid-20's, though, so all that snow/slush will be ice tomorrow morning. Great.

Got woken up around midnight with the lovely sound of a neighbor's tree branch breaking under the weight of the snow. Sounded like it hit our house, and me being disoriented from just being yanked out of sleep and my wife being freaked out because she'd never heard that happen before....I ended up outside at midnight looking to see what fell through our roof. Nothing, as it turns out. But I had to bring her out on the front porch and show her what was happening (snow was still falling out of the tree...looked like a rather large animal was in the tree, shaking the branches) before she'd be satisfied that everything was okay. On a more maintenance-related note, I did discover a broken limb in the back yard, hanging over our power lines. If I end up having the day off, I'll trim it up a bit to lighten the load, and call the electric company. We still have power, though, so we won't be very high on the priority list.

One of the joys in doing IT for a trucking company, one that contracts with the National Guard to move equipment around. Noticed these in the parking lot on Friday, sorry 'bout the quality, all I had was a cellphone on me at the time.

No idea...I was monkeying around with a wireless router in a 100+ degree mezzanine inside a metal building all afternoon. Survival sorta edged out curiosity.

Reminds me, though, I need to go through my vacation pics from two weeks ago and post a few of them here.

Okeedokee...first batch, from the Dallas Aquarium. Yes...the Aquarium. I know there's a lot of non-fishy critters there, but I didn't design the thing!

In the shot with the ray, that's my brother and his fiancee standing in the tunnel below, looking up.

Next set from the Dallas Arboretum, my brother and his fiancee wanted some engagement photos, so while my wife was doing the official photographer thing, the kiddo and I made our leisurely way through the gardens and found some interesting things.

After the Arboretum, we visited the JFK memorial and museum, the "6th Floor Museum". The half-open window, second floor from the top, all the way on the right is where Oswald shot from. They have that corner of the room glassed off and set up the exact same way it was the day he shot Kennedy. Unfortunately, they do not allow photography in the museum, so no pics of the sniper nest or anything. Pretty stupid of Oswald, really...his rifle rest is right next to the window, so the barrel had to be sticking out. Anyway, there's also a shot of the infamous Grassy Knoll and underpass that the motorcade went screaming through afterwards. The little "angel" is my daughter, waiting oh-so-impatiently for everyone to come down. She's still too hyper to have taken her through the museum, so she and my wife waited in the lobby. After I finished the audio tour, Kaylen and I walked over and found the Grassy Knoll.
