Wow Mike, now THAT'S a score!!!! A4K

Done good there Mike. Wayne Little

Thanks guys, I'm quite pleased although it is unlikely I'll ever complete all of my "stash".
I may have paid too much for all of it but, as I said, I'm pleased.

Good scores guys - especially Mike!
I see what you men about the complexity Glenn! Give it a go, it's not as if it's going to be swinging all the time, so could work out.

In addition to the take I've already listed - I attended our local model club meeting yesterday (held in a HOBBYTOWN) and noticed an AIRFIX 1:72 SHORT Sunderland behind the counter. I ask the manager about it and he said someone had returned it due to missing parts. He allowed me to check the model out and I compared the instructions to the parts and couldn't find anything missing. He sold it to me for $10!

It has been a good Xmas indeed!

Another couple for my BoB collection arrived today, in the form of a rotte of Airfix 'Emils'. Neat little kits, despite a couple of glaring errors, easily corrected.

Glenn, I'd say they're at least equal, and better in parts - plus a touch cheaper (more so in this case, as I got two for the price of one and a third!).
The kit provides parts for either the E-1, E-3 or E-4, and has different styles of ETC racks and bombs, along with drop tanks and their carriers, plus the different canopy and windscreen styles, including a windscreen to allow the fitment of Galland's telescope (provided).
All control surfaces, including flaps and slats, are positionable, and there are separate 'retracted' main wheels and doors for 'in flight' models, as well as a separate bomb selector panel for the instrument panel. Unlike the Tamiya kit, the moulded-in engine block has some surface detail, and separate engine bearers. Among the other options are three different prop spinners.
On the slightly downside, the tail wheel tyre is moulded with a 'flat' bottom, which rather negates the provision of the optional 'retracted' main gear, the prop blades are rather narrow and the hubs lack the pitch gearing detail. The seat also seems to be rather narrow at te top, but more than acceptable.
The main problems are the gear legs being slightly too long, presumably due to measurements being taken from the example in the RAF Museum, which is now on support jacks, and the later style, 'square' canopy is provided with central frame work - again due to the RAFM example, which is currently fitted with a 'G' type canopy from a Buchon, as the original went missing post war. I suppose this is what happens when the design work is undertaken without complete knowledge of the subject, and the pattern aircraft in particular.
Apart from the prop, which isn't too noticeable, the other errors are easily taken care of, and as far as accuracy goes, the kit scores highly. Overall, taking into account the extensive optional parts, allowing virtually any version of the 'Emil' to built, and with a decal sheet providing markings for one of each type (excluding swastikas), and the very competitive price even at full retail, I'd say this is probably the best 'Emil' available in this scale, and an example of what Airfix can do when they put their mind to it.
If the kit was to be revised to correct the relatively minor errors mentioned above, I'd score it at 10/10 - as it is now, I give it 9.5 out of 10.
Now, certain manufacturers based in the Far East, please note that it is possible to produce, and sell, a very good kit which doesn't have to cost a King's ransom, and that they will continue to sell and provide revenue, without re-releasing with a different, single, decal option, at two or three times the original retail price. That practice is known as TTP ......
