I generally order from Sprue Brothers myself, as I used to find that the shipping costs to Canada from Squadron were at times double of what I would be charged through the former site. They seem to have dropped to more reasonable levels however.

Found a 1/32 Tamiya A6M2 at a "decent" price and figured it would go well with the forthcoming early F4U, and ordered it. Andy, you may be interested in this, I got it from a store called Great Hobbies. They have 4 physical stores across the country, one here in Edmonton, but you can also order kits off of their site if it's not in stock in the stores (which mine wasn't), and the shipping was free for me, so it would probably be similar for you. They don't have a wild selection, but may save you a few $ down the line.

Wayne may be the person to ask for this; do you know if the decals and markings, specifically for the blue banded one are correct (ie the shade)? I am looking at the Yellowhammer Models A6M2 Zero Type 21s #2 sheet, but don't know if it's really needed.

Cory the Blue Bands for the Pearl harbour aircraft of Hiryu and Soryu were a DARK blue, the Yellow hammer decals have it in the correct shade. The lighter Blue as in the Tamiya set are in Error for the blue.

Soryu Zeroes used the lighter Medium Blue on their New aircraft delivered in February 1942.

Great score Cory!

Re Squadron: I've had troubles with them a few times and choose not to purchase from them any more. Examples:

-Small items being sent in huge boxes, postage of said box twice the cost of the item(s). Unaffordable as such.

-Receiving 'True Details' products which are deformed or badly moulded, useless in both cases. (No quality control?) Also dented 'Falcon' and 'Squadron' clear vax items - irrepairable and useless. (The packaging boxes may be oversized, but they dump items on top of each other first, then pack newspapers in on top. Not good for vac canopies...)

-Advertising products at sale prices, order being denied on grounds that 'there are problems with the bank card' (not true), pointing out the card is good and recieving rest of order MINUS a certain product: no apology or explanation - checking catalogue and website: item listed twice, in sales AND regular areas. Pointing out this discrepency: no reply, but website 'sales' section deleted. Bill receipt for received items shows missing item listed, at sale price... included in cost paid.

Squadron have alot to learn about customer service and quality control.

Dropped by the local IPMS swap meet this weekend and got these two kits at good prices :) If only real life stopped interfering and left me some time to work on some builds :S

Well done jelmer.

my latest purchases, couple of 1/72 zeroes, the Tamiya kit box art is an odd one depicts a Nakajima built zero from late 1942 from the carrier Junyo, decals in the kit for Pearl Harbour Mitsubishi built aircraft, the Blue markings should be a very dark Blue not medium blue. The Aces combo was one I couldn't resist....:D
Also got a Pair of 1/32 Fw190D-9's at basically half price (on sale) couldn't pass these up either...! have Resin and plastic bomb set as well will use these on an Fw190F-8
