Certainly is Wayne. Also, it's probably due to the stupid arthritis, but I can't keep my models as clean as yours during construction, not messy, but not as clean.

Wayne, how do you make the connection lines between the two fuselage halves look so smooth, without compromising the etched lines that flow between the two halves? Do you use a model putty? I've been working on this for a couple of years, now, but haven't quite got it to turn out the way I want. The paint looks good, too, but it's your obvious expertise at hiding joints that impresses me the most.

The first and most important is to make sure both halves match up clean and straight, ensuring that panel lines match up precisely (sometimes this is a real problem) and just as important that each half sits nice and flush without a step (mismatch). If you get it all right then filler or putty is kept to a minimum or not required. I use tamiya putty or super glue, depending on what I need to do and where the filler is required. Sometimes you will need to apply 2 and 3 applications of filler to get it right as you sand it back. Paint over the join to check your work as you go...

If you like I can do a step by step guide to 'getting it right'......having said that I'm sure you won't be the only one that says Yes!
 
A quick question, Wayne. Like you, I sometimes use superglue to fill joints etc. I have seen mentioned in various magazines, 'gap filling' superglue. Is this a 'thicker' product do you know, as all I can ever find in the UK, regardless of brand, is 'ordinary' superglue. Any hints as to type, and/or manufacturer, would be appreciated.

THAT is exactly where I'm running into trouble. If I get the two halves to match, then it seems like I throw something else out of whack. I'm going to have to continue working on that. It sure is a pleasure to see your well matched, and painted planes. I wouldn't mind a step-by-step. What you just said has already helped. Thanks.
 
Terry, if the gap is a bit bigger than normal place a small piece of plasticard on the inside of one of the parts as a backing, same principle as fixing a hole in a wall for plastering, then you can fill it without it giving way.
I'm sure you have probably already thought of this anyway....might come in handy for someone else though.

...and I hope to do the Red band later today or tomorrow.....when doing Yellow's, Red's White's I like to leave them 3-4 days before masking them.
 
Thanks, Wayne, and you're right, I do this. It's just for those really awkward, hard to access joints that you come across now and then. It can be a bit more difficult when my hands don't work properly! But, as you said, someone else will benefit from the knowledge of the Jedi Master, as Rochie calls you!!!(Giggles uncontrolably!)
