Once again folks, thanks for looking in.

Having flown into the Grand Canyon we now return to Las Vegas at sunset and for a night over and in the town. The following shows this glitzy city as we flew over it and then walked the main drag.

Thanks for looking in folks and I hope you all had a great Christmas and all the best for the coming year.

Following on from some of the comments, I also have to confess, Vegas is not my cup of tea either but a stay was wanted by the other half, as it was I made use of the good cloths shopping and almost completely changed my travel wardrobe while there.

From Vegas we flew to Washington DC for a short stop and then took the Amtrack to New York, so what follows are some of the sights we saw which I figure will be quite familiar to many of you.

Had to post this first one as it's one of the very few shots of us 'WITHOUT SHADES.' Please note as it may well be the only one.

These of the Congress Building are of particular interest as apart from it being of classical architecture it is also quite a dominant building. In total contrast the Parliament of Australia which belongs to the people of Australia forms part of a hill and the only dominant feature is the flag of the nation.

By comparison, the Australian Parliament building. The long white building in the foreground is the 'Old Parliament House' which is open to the public as id the Parliament House and, is now used for functions, fine dining and exhibitions.

As you can see I also, but only just managed to snap a pic of one of your temporary residence in the capital!!!

Though we spent almost a whole day in the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum the pictures I took didn't come out so well, however we did spend some time in the Natural History Museum and the Butterfly House was just magnificent.

As for New York, well most of these shots speak for themselves. It was warm, it was very wet we got soaked a couple of times and it was very humid, so please forgive the hazy pictures.

Excellent shots Vic. It's been awhile since I've been to DC. The New York shots are interesting seeing as I have not ever been there and have no real desire to either. Thank you for sharing sir. Oh, and the shot without the sunglasses will have to go in the Mugshot thread.

Thanks Aaron. Looks like we could be heading back that way on the next holiday, either east or west coast judging from current discussions, not till 2013 though, got to save the pennies.

Very nice photos Vic. Wish I had the money, time, money and time to travel. 10 yrs. or less to retirement or 6 numbers to a lottery win.

Geo

Thanks Geo. I have the travel bug mate, I followed my father around when he was in the military then I joined up and travelled and even though I left the RAF some 38 years ago, I've been travelling and worked around the world ever since. Now retired and I'm still on the run. As for the lotto mate, I'm with you, win that and I'll be off like a sidewinder never to return to my home.

Thanks also Dave.

Nice pictures Vic. Did you get to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center at Dulles International Airport? It's even better than the Air Space museum on the Mall
