As I mentioned we are now taking a river cruse with coach trips up to Paris. It is early October and the weather is magnificent, so much so that we even got to have a nice swim in the Med while spending a night in Nice............Don't worry, no pics of that, I don't want to scare you all.
So having joined the cruise in Monte Carlo and having been bussed to Arles we spent the night on board, got to know the routine and start the experience of some of the finest dining I've ever had. All meals were provided starting with a buffet breakfast and lunch each day catering for every taste, afternoon high tea and a full à la carte dinner of six courses or more, depending on your palette. We also got wine and beer provided with the evening meal. On top of this, some days we had extra treats such as chocolate tasting, wine tasting or just sampling one of the local delicacies of the towns we passed through.
Here we are at the end of our first full day passing through the first of many locks on this river. It was a very balmy evening and most everybody was on the upper deck watching the passage through.
Our next port of call was Avignon the "City of Popes", they reside her one might say in exile between 1309 and 1423. It is a lovely walled city with plenty of character. We had berthed here overnight and after the huge breakfast we set out on a guided tour to explore the city.
More of this wonderful place next time when we enter the Popes Palace.

I'm now going to interrupt this little French tour with some local pictures taken down the coast over the last few days. It's just over 2½ hours drive from home down a twisty, winding and sometimes very steep two way road, so we don't make the trip all that often.
As summers go by Australian standards, this one has been a washout, literally with major flooding, cold winds and not much sun so to get some odd patches of sun with the wind was quite a blessing.
First up the place we stayed, it's called the "Bower" and is tucked away nicely in the bush about 10 minutes walk from a great beach, of which we have many of in this country. We had one of about 7 units all secreted away within the trees out of sight of each other.
The internal picture with one taken from the inside looking through the full glass wall at one end.
A couple of pics of the bush around us.
Some of the amazing bark on the trees.

Just a few more snaps from the coast trip.
A bit of coastline with a couple of the residence.
It was also a full moon.
Looking back towards the Great Dividing Range and a small Billabong.
A small part of the Moruya town Catholic Church stain glass window and a Praying Mantis trying to hide on the church door. Until now I didn't realise they could change colour.
Couldn't resist this one outside the milk shed.

More on the coast visit.
Outside the bower was this little bit of England……………….Blackberries, imported by the early settlers to give them a taste of home.
We also had a few visitors while sitting around. The Australian Magpie (wings streached) even decide to come inside when he thought food was on offer.
While taking a bush walk between rain showers one afternoon, first up the "Big Bag Banksia".
With the damp the fungi was doing well.
Lastly, just a couple of study shots.
