Nothing on the A6m5-K Evan....sources quote only 7 or 2 prototypes....makes it real difficult to find photo's...

profile looks nice, Evan....supposedly the A6M5-K's were built by Hitachi Aircraft K K between march and August 1945, with developement commencing in August 1944.
Quote from Arawasi International Issue 6 "Many sources refer to A6M5-Ks based on the A6M5 having individual stacks on the cowling though no photos have ever surfaced to support this claim. Some sources mention that only 2 prototypes were built by the 21stNaval Air Arsenal, with the mass production planned at Hitachi thwarted by the priority placed on combat aircraft production. It thus remains unclear if some of the other aircraft attributed to this variant were actually the above mentioned 'composite' aircraft that combined A6M2-K fuselages with A6M5 Type 52 wings."

Thanks, and yes it is mean't to be very clean and shiny, the paint was glossy and these aircraft belonged to the Elite IJN Carrier Fleet, the pride of the japanese Navy, they were kept in pristine condition during the early part of WWII.
